Great trip with the New York State Master Teacher Program. Love, Passion and pride of this gem is clear by all who run it. Nice gift shop with crystals, and fossils for sale as well. They take card.

The Gilboa Fossils Museum is a true delight for those curious about the origins of everything! These important fossils gave scientists insights into the development of plants on land 380 million years ago. The Museum is very worth seeing. Free admission, on weekends only. The views from the deck are excellent!

I read about Gilboa fossils a few years ago, and I was curious about the fossils. Finally, in the month of November 2023, I visited the museum, which was close because of Sunday, but actual fossils are placed outside the museum, and you can see them. It gives you an idea how this area may have been 380 million years ago and the plant life. These fossils were found during the reconstruction of the Gilboa dam after the major hurricane. These fossils were donated by NYC DEP since Schoharie reservoir is one of the water supply for New York City. Right next to this museum, I saw a library where you can swap books. I am sure books were educational and you can bring books to get a book from the library.

Very small museum with limited exhibits. Staff were very friendly and helpful. A nice place to go if you're in the area but not a destination, unless you're a science nerd like me.
